Keith Malmedal, Project Electrical Engineer, ConsultantDr. Malmedal has over thirty years experience in electronics systems and electrical engineering with the last eighteen years spent in power generation, transmission and distribution. Dr. Malmedal served as Project Electrical Engineer on all of the Spectrum EPC and EPM projects, all of which were completed on or ahead of schedule, under budget, and met or exceeded performance guarantees. These projects include a 2xLM6000 combined cycle plant for Kinder Morgan, 6xFT8 TwinPac and 7EA simple cycle plants for Constellation Power (one of which is located in Alberta, Canada), 3xLM6000 and 2xLM6000 simple cycle plants for Duke Energy or Duke partnerships, two installations resulting in a 3x7FA simple cycle plant for Dominion Power, 2xLM6000 simple cycle plants for Alabama Municipal Electric Authority and Public Service Company of New Mexico, three LM6000 installations for Jonesboro City Water and Light, and LM6000 installations for Delaware Municipal Electric Corporation and Southwestern Electric Cooperative. Overall, Dr. Malmedal has assisted in the installation of 3,043 MW of electricity for Spectrum Energy.

Other notable projects Dr. Malmedal has worked on includes various projects at Denver International Airport, including designing and specifying equipment for main terminal electrical system upgrade, and installation/interconnection of back-up generators; over thirty utility substations, including conceptual and detailed design, physical design, protection and control scheme, construction specifications, and substation commissioning, for substations ranging in size from 10MVA to 300 MVA and in voltage from 12kV to 500kV; and the Metropolitan Wastewater Treatment Plant where he worked with future Spectrum Construction Manager Dean Felton and future Spectrum Site Project Manager Doug Losey. He has also provided system studies for several utilities across the United States and in Central America, and provided complete design services for renewable and distributed resources projects including wind and solar projects.

Dr. Malmedal is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, and is a member of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Power Engineering Society and Industry Applications Society and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). He received a Ph.D. in Engineering Systems from Colorado School of Mines and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering (Power Option) and Civil Engineering (Structural Option) from the University of Colorado at Denver.
